Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, Alberto Costa, recently visited Blaby Stokes Primary School to present 9-year old Ellie Wood with a special prize for being awarded the winner of the MP's Annual Community Christmas Card Competition.
Ellie’s design of an ‘Elf on the Shelf’ was crowned the winner of the MP’s Christmas Card Competition this year with Florence Greenhalgh of Swinford CofE Primary School being awarded second place, and Eloise Hibbert of Sharnford CofE Primary School awarded third place.
A number of schools from across South Leicestershire entered the MP’s Christmas Card Competition this year, with all entrants receiving a special House of Commons certificate and a letter of thanks from Alberto.
Alberto said, "I was delighted to present Ellie with a special prize to congratulate her on her fantastic festive design, which was a very deserved winner of my Christmas Card competition this year. I would also like to thank both Florence and Eloise for their excellent designs, and of course all those pupils from across South Leicestershire who entered.
My sincere thanks too to our excellent sponsors this year, Jennos Coffee House and Lutterworth-based Lifeplan, who were very kind in one again sponsoring my competition. Running and organising my Christmas Card Competition is without a doubt one of the highlights of the year, and I am hugely grateful to all the local schools that took part, and I am already looking forward to next year!".
