On Friday 20th May, Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, Alberto Costa, spoke at a special meeting of the Leicestershire and Rutland Young Farmers Club about the EU Referendum and how the result may affect the agricultural industry.
Organised by representatives from the both the Lutterworth and Enderby Young Farmers Clubs, the meeting was held at the Lutterworth Sport Pavilion. Mr Costa was joined in leading the discussion by Leicestershire, Rutland & Northamptonshire National Farmers Union (NFU) Chairman, Phil Jarvis.
Alberto said, “It was a pleasure to meet so many Young Farmers with such a passion for politics this evening. I am very thankful to the Lutterworth and Enderby YFCs for organising this discussion, and, of course, to Phil for joining us as well”.
Lutterworth Young Farmers Club Chairman, Thomas Beesley, added, “We invited Alberto to give our members a better understanding of the effect the EU Referendum may have on the agricultural industry and to give people a better understanding of what the effect and the implications may be. It’s incredibly important that our members – as well as others – are well informed before they vote”.
ALberto concluded, “The EU Referendum is one of the largest political decisions that young people today will get to make and so I was delighted to have the opportunity to speak to the Young Farmers and ensure they have all the information they need in order to make an informed and confident decision”.
