Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, Alberto Costa, held his second set of ‘Supermarket Surgeries’ this week, with the latest taking place on Friday 22nd July at the Morrisons and Waitrose supermarkets in Lutterworth. These have followed previous surgeries held in the constituency at the Asda and Sainsbury’s stores located at Fosse Park in the middle of July.
The South Leicestershire MP previously held his first round of ‘supermarket surgeries’ at the end of May and the beginning of June, and after popular demand from constituents he has held a further set in the past couple of weeks.
Alebrto said, “The ‘supermarket surgeries’ have proved incredibly popular with the constituents of South Leicestershire, so much so that I was delighted to hold a further set recently. The in store placement of the surgeries has allowed for a relaxed and informal meeting place for constituents and I am very pleased at the feedback we have been receiving”.
Other MPs such as Matthew Hancock, Jeremy Hunt and George Freeman have previously held ‘supermarket surgeries’ in their respective constituencies.
Alberto concluded, “I’m aware that some of my Parliamentary colleagues have held this type of surgery before to popular reception and I’m pleased that mine have similarly followed suit. Of course, the emphasis is on ensuring surgeries are easy and accessible for constituents who wish to see their MP and the ‘supermarket surgeries’ are a great way of facilitating that easier connection. My thanks goes to Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons and Waitrose for their kind hospitality, it shows that these stores have a clear sense of community spirit and a want to engage with the community and customers”.
