Alberto Costa, MP for South Leicestershire, will be writing to all residents of Narborough and Littlethorpe at the beginning of September to hear their views on the rail services and facilities offered at Narborough railway station.
Alberto, who has been working alongside the Friends of Narborough Station (FONS) community group, will send the survey to almost 7,000 residents across both villages with a range of questions asking for their views on how the rail services and facilities offered from Narborough station can be improved for constituents and rail users.
Alberto said, “As the only railway station in my South Leicestershire constituency, Narborough is a hugely important infrastructure hub for the local community, however I have long received complaints about the services offered from the railway station; from the lack of a ticket machine on the platform, to overcrowded peak time trains. This is a vital opportunity for constituents in Littlethorpe and Narborough to have their voices heard, no matter how often they use the trains, to help shape the future services and the range of facilities available at the station”.
Mr John Harrison, Chairman of the Friends of Narborough Station (FONS) added, “I am delighted with the support FONS is getting from our MP Alberto. There is clearly a need for a better service to be provided at the station in order to avoid the sometimes overcrowding of trains. Commuters are paying a high price to stand in some cases throughout the whole of their journeys. Alongside rail service improvements, FONS are also keen to identify how users would like to see passenger facilities upgraded and so any suggested ideas will be most welcome”.
Alberto concluded, “I am immensely grateful to FONS for their assistance and local knowledge in creating this survey, and I hope constituents won’t mind just taking a few moments of their time to complete the survey and share their views to help shape the future of their local railway station. I very much look forward to seeing the completed surveys in October”.
The survey, which will posted out to all residents on the electoral roll in Narborough and Littlethorpe on 1st September, can be returned by being posted into one several ‘MP Survey Return Boxes’ set up across both villages at the following locations – Narborough railway station, the Bread Box, Tesco (Copt Oak Court), Narborough Post Office, Select Convenience (Coventry Road), Carlton Stores (Forest Road) and in Littlethorpe, the Plough pub and the Old Inn pub.
The window to return completed surveys will be 1st October.
