On Monday 24th October 2016, Alberto Costa, Conservative Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, met with Samantha and Wayne of South Leicestershire based Archie’s Army, in the Houses of Parliament in Westminster.
During the meeting, Samantha and Wayne shared their experience of Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a condition their son Archie was diagnosed with in August 2015, aged just one year old.
Mr Costa said, “I am very grateful to Samantha and Wayne for taking the time to come to Parliament to meet with me and share their experience. In addition, I would like to commend them on the hard work they have put into Archie’s Army, which seeks to raise both funds and awareness of something which affects 70,000 children and adults in the UK today.”
Archie’s army said, “Archie’s army has been set up to help us fund vital research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – something we were keen to discuss with Alberto Costa, as our local Member of Parliament. I hope all reading this will support Archie and join his army.”
Mr Costa concluded, “I look forward to continued and ongoing dialogue with Archie’s army to assist where possible. I would encourage everyone to visit their website to learn more about Duchenne and how to support this incredibly worthwhile cause.”
