On Friday 11th March, South Leicestershire MP, Alberto Costa met with Emma Collyer from the Environment Agency to discuss vital, local environmental issues in the south of the County.
Mr Costa said, “The meeting was very useful to discuss a range of local matters and concerns and learn more about how the Environment Agency respond to such occurrences. We had a very useful conversation which covered a number of areas including the recent flooding as well as assessments concerning Magna Park expansion plans”.
Emma Collyer, Environmental Manager for Leicester and South Nottinghamshire added: “Meetings of this type are vital. They give both parties, through open discussion, a better understanding of not only the Environmental issues and constraints of the Constituency but also of cases of best practice such as the work being done by the Soar Catchment Partnership.”
Mr Costa concluded, “I was pleased to welcome Emma to my office in Blaby in order to discuss the integral, local environmental issues affecting my constituents. Given the recent flooding, I am thankful to the Environment Agency staff across Leicestershire who operated a 24 hour incident room for affected residents during the downpour and I am pleased that the Environment Agency worked with the emergency services in attempts to minimise disruption”.
