Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, Alberto Costa, met with representatives from Sharnford Traffic Action Group (STAG), Sharnford Parish Council and Leicestershire County Council to discuss traffic concerns in Sharnford.
Alberto met with members of STAG - who were formed in 2005 and work in cooperation with Sharnford Parish Council - to discuss their worries regarding the volume of traffic, as well as the speed of some traffic, which travels through the village on a regular basis.
Alberto said, “I was delighted to arrange a meeting between myself and representatives of the Sharnford Traffic Action Group (STAG), Sharnford Parish Council and their hardworking County Councillor Ernie White, in order to discuss this very important issue. STAG have been working tirelessly for the past decade to monitor this situation and I was of course more than happy to listen to their concerns and offer my assistance”.
STAG Secretary, Mike Shirley, added, “This was a very constructive meeting where Alberto showed a willingness to take up Sharnford’s problems at the highest level, including Parliament. The intervention of our local MP was unexpected but most welcome. It is good to see that we now have a Member of Parliament who is interested and willing to participate in local matters”.
Alberto concluded, “Of course the safety of my constituents in Sharnford is paramount, and so I was very pleased with the outcome of our meeting as we have been able to organise a more coordinated effort to ensure that we arrive at a suitable resolution for all concerned”.
