Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, Alberto Costa, has praised the Government’s commitment to increased social care funding announced during today’s Budget.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Rt. Hon Phillip Hammond MP, today announced an extra £2 billion in extra funding for social care as the Government looks to a longer term view to fund services across the country.
Alberto said said, “I was delighted to hear the Chancellor’s announcement during the Budget today which secured further funding for social care services. The local authority, Leicestershire County Council, already provide an excellent standard of service in their social care provision, however this further financial support will only help in increasing this standard and decreasing pressures on the system”.
Alberto concluded, “The Government have correctly recognized the needs of an aging demographic within the population, and so I’m confident that this will be very welcome news, not only to my constituents in South Leicestershire, but also to people across the rest of the country”.
