Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, Alberto Costa, is calling on pub goers in his constituency to nominate their favourite Constituency Pub for the Parliamentary Pub of the Year Awards.
The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Pubs have launched this Year's Parliamentary Pub of the Year Awards. This award focuses on celebrating pubs in our community and will give 650 MPs the opportunity to nominate a pub to be recognised as the Parliamentary pub of the Year. The main criteria for nomination is a pub that is great at what they do, this can include the range of beer or food provided, the dedication to serving the local community or a specialism in Music or Sports.
South Leicestershire constituents can nominate their favourite pub by either emailing Alberto or commenting on his Facebook page by the deadline of Monday 21st October.
Alberto said, ‘South Leicestershire is blessed with a wonderful range of truly excellent pubs, from cosy, traditional establishments to larger, food centred pubs hence why I am asking my constituents to nominate their favourite local watering hole. Residents can do this by either emailing my office or commenting on my Facebook page and the I’ll then submit the most popular one as the constituency’s official entrant”.
Alberto added, “Our brilliant pubs are the backbone of our communities from sleepy rural villages to bustling urban centres you can always find a warm and friendly welcome in pubs up and down the country and they certainly deserve our support. I am pleased that the Government have consistently frozen beer duty for the past six years, providing over £4 billion of support to the pubs and drink industry thereby encouraging consumers to continue frequenting their locals”.
