On Friday 15th July, Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, Alberto Costa, attended the Blaby ‘Business Breakfast’ held at Santander’s offices in Narborough.
The event, organised by Blaby District Council, brought together local business men and women, District Councillors and other stakeholders for a networking event where attendees could eat breakfast and hear from their local MP as well as Council Leaders.
Alberto said, “I was very pleased to speak at Blaby District Council’s Business Breakfast earlier this morning. Events of this nature are of crucial importance to the local economy and they present an excellent opportunity for business leaders and stakeholders to meet and discuss any issues or concerns they may have”.
Blaby District Council, Director of Place, Mark Alflat, presented an overview of the local economy and asked businesses for their input into the upcoming Strategy of Growth which is soon due to be published by the Council.
Alberto took questions from attendees and discussed the local economy as well as national topics ranging from the EU Referendum to apprenticeships and unemployment in the area.
Alberto concluded, “Unemployment levels across the area at a remarkable low with less than 1% unemployment, this is clear evidence that local businesses across both the District and the Constituency are doing extremely well in contributing effectively to the local economy”.
