On Monday 7th November 2016, MP for South Leicestershire, Alberto Costa, supported an adjournment debate in Parliament secured by Rt Hon Nicky Morgan, MP for Loughborough.
Alberto joined MPs from across the Midlands to support the debate, outlining the case for electrification of the Midland Mainline tracks.
Mr Costa said, "Further delays to investment plans only seeks to create uncertainty for residents, businesses and other stakeholders. Business groups such as the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce have been making this point for some time, and it is important that the government provides the clarity and certainty that is needed.
The economic contributions of the Midlands is already considerable, and investment projects like this will further support the excellent work already underway across the region. I thank my colleague Nicky Morgan MP for bringing this debate to the house and look forward to continuing to contribute to further discussions on this important matter."
