South Leicestershire MP, Alberto Costa, visited the Lutterworth Veterans Breakfast Club on Saturday morning to thank ex-serviceman and women for their service in the armed forces and to celebrate the group’s first anniversary since forming.
Alberto visited the local veterans group for their meeting at the Unicorn Inn in Lutterworth to thank them for their service and to join them for a special question and answer session over breakfast.
Alberto said, “It was such a pleasure to visit the Lutterworth Veterans Breakfast Club this week, and to meet so many ex-serviceman who have given so much to the armed forces in service of our country. The Lutterworth Club has been tremendously successful in its first year, and with more clubs forming across the country every week, with an estimated 25,000 people attending every year, I do hope that more ex-service personnel from across South Leicestershire will think about joining their local club”.
Chairman of the Lutterworth Veterans Breakfast Club, Mr Peter Hollinshead, added. “It was great to hear Alberto thanking us Veterans for serving in the armed forces and our part in the process of maintaining the freedom we all enjoy in the UK”.
Alberto concluded, “This is the second Veterans Breakfast Club I have visited in my constituency and I am always delighted to do so. These clubs provide an excellent, informal meeting place, with an open invitation to ex-servicemen and women, past and present, to meet in a social and supportive environment. It’s hugely important that those who have served, or are currently serving, have organisations such as these which provide an informal support network and help bring friends together”.
