On Friday 7th October, Alberto Costa, Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, visited the Enterprise Centre in Lutterworth to meet with senior staff, local dignitaries and former pupils as they opened their doors for their Community Open Day.
The Enterprise Centre, which was previously part of Lutterworth College for twelve years, is now run as a non-profit centre specialising in running practical learning courses for children across Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire as well as people from across Lutterworth and the surrounding area.
Alberto said, “I was delighted to visit the Enterprise Centre’s Community Open Day to meet with the hard working staff as well as current and former pupils and I was very pleased to see the excellent displays of the fantastic work the Enterprise Centre has been doing and will continue to do”.
Ms Jane Beaumont, Manager of the Enterprise Centre, added, “We wanted to extend a big invitation to the people of Lutterworth and the surrounding community to visit the Enterprise Centre today so we can showcase the excellent courses we have available for local people to take part in. We now offer courses to a much wider age range and a much wider area and we hope to include as many people as possible in the courses we offer”.
Ms Judith Briers, Executive Principal of Lutterworth College and Enterprise Centre Trustee, said, “The Enterprise Centre is an excellent social enterprise for change, the centre offers courses four days a week for children not only across Leicestershire but also Northampton and Warwickshire, while they also now offer a dedicated community day for adults who also wish to undertake these courses”.
Alberto concluded, “The Enterprise Centre is a real asset to the constituency, it offers an excellent array of courses aimed at those pupils who may be disengaged from the more academic side of schooling as it’s incredibly important that all pupils have a wide choice of subjects and ways to learn at their disposal. I’m also very pleased to see the Enterprise Centre have dedicated an entire day in offering courses to the people of the community and I would encourage all constituents of South Leicestershire to make enquiries with the Centre to see what’s on offer and hopefully enrol on a course”.
