On Friday 23rd March, Alberto Costa, Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, met with representatives of The Crown Estate and the Fosse Partnership to visit the site of the new extension to Fosse Park.
In October last year, The Crown Estate announced its plans to purchase the site of the former Everards Brewery as part of their plans for a £135m extension to the shopping park which will see the creation of nine new shops and six new food outlets.
Alberto said, “I was delighted to hear of the very exciting plans The Crown Estate has for the extension of Fosse, and it was of course a pleasure to visit the site and see the work on the new development beginning to take shape. The extension is brilliant news for shoppers, not only in Leicestershire, but also the rest of the country”.
Mike Bell, Senior Asset Manager at The Crown Estate, which owns Fosse added, “We are really excited to have begun works on the extension site at Fosse, paving the way to deliver more fantastic retail for our shoppers. It has been a pleasure to share first-hand our vision for Fosse with Mr Costa MP today, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with him and the local community, as the new scheme takes shape.”
Alberto concluded, “Attracting over 10 million visitors a year, Fosse is a real beacon for South Leicestershire in terms of tourism and bringing visitors to this wonderful part of the country. Of course it’s also hugely important to both the local and national economy and I so very much welcome this extension and look forward to visiting the site again upon its completion”.
