On Friday 21st October, South Leicestershire MP, Alberto Costa visited the historic Greyhound Coaching Inn in Lutterworth in order to meet with owner and proprietor Robert Eggleston and to tour the Inn's facilities and to meet staff.
Alberto said, "I was delighted to visit the Greyhound Inn earlier today. It's one of the most historic buildings not only in Lutterworth, but in South Leicestershire, and I was very impressed to see the excellent work Robert and his staff have done to ensure that it's a brilliant place to stay for those visiting the constituency".
The Coaching Inn, which dates back to 1720, was historically one of three coaching inns in Lutterworth, with the town being situated next to prominent coaching routes such as Fosse Way and Ermine Street.
Alberto concluded, "I was particularly struck by Robert's story of him taking over the inn in 1989 when it had fallen into a state of disrepair and the inn's current condition is a testament to his hard work. Earlier this year I attended a meeting for National Tourism Week which was aimed at promoting tourism and the hospitality industry not only across Leicestershire but also the UK, and I'm very pleased to see that Robert's establishment is setting a great example to others with it's excellent facilities and therefore encouraging more people to visit South Leicestershire".
