South Leicestershire MP, Alberto Costa, recently visited the new Amazon delivery station at Magna Park near Lutterworth to meet staff members and to see the delivery operations underway ahead of the busy Christmas period.
The new 38,000 sq. m delivery hub at Magna Park, which opened in October earlier this year, has created over 50 permanent jobs in addition to hundreds of new driver roles which the MP has ‘welcomed’.
Alberto said, “I was delighted to visit the new, state of the art Amazon delivery station at Magna Park last Friday, and to meet with Amazon employees as they head into the Christmas shopping season, their busiest time of year. The new delivery station has already created a host of new jobs for my constituents in South Leicestershire, and it was a pleasure to visit the new site and see Amazon’s hard work in action”.
Kasia Szmigielska, Delivery Station Manager said, “We were delighted to have the opportunity to not only show Alberto Costa MP our delivery station but also explain our wider engagement with the Lutterworth community and surrounding area.”
Alberto added, “It was truly fascinating to see the processes Amazon have in place to cater for so many online orders, and to see how they deliver items in such a timely and efficient manner. As one of the world’s biggest businesses, Amazon are of course a very welcome addition in South Leicestershire; by creating new jobs for local people, and providing hundreds of new opportunities for delivery drivers, the Lutterworth delivery station has already provided an excellent economic boost for South Leicestershire as we continue to build back better in our recovery from the Covid pandemic”.
