Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, Alberto Costa, welcomed a group of Rotarians from the Blaby Rotary Club to the Houses of Parliament earlier this week.
Members of the Rotary Club of Blaby visited Parliament alongside other Rotarians from the 1070 district to tour the Palace of Westminster, watch parliamentary proceedings from the public galleries and join Mr Costa for afternoon tea in the House of Commons Dining Room.
Rotary International is an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and to advance goodwill and peace around the world, globally, nationally and locally and to provide fellowship.
Alberto said, “I was delighted to welcome members of the Blaby Rotary Club to Parliament earlier this week. As many will know, Rotarians do a tremendous amount of fundraising and volunteering for their local communities both across the country and across the world, and so I was very pleased to host their visit to the Palace of Westminster”.
President of the Rotary Club of Blaby, Mrs Louise Richardson added, “‘The Rotary Club of Blaby was very pleased to attend a visit to Parliament along with Rotarians from other district 1070 Rotary clubs on 23rd October. We must thank Alberto Costa, MP, and his team for taking the time to arrange a tour of parliament, arranging us seats in viewing galleries in both the House of Commons and the Lords, and completing the day with a wonderful cream tea and visit to the Terrace with Alberto and surprise guest, Dominic Grieve, former Attorney General”.
Alberto concluded, “I do very much hope the Rotary Club enjoyed their visit to Parliament, on what was a very busy day in the Chamber for both Houses, so I hope the group got a good insight in the inner workings of Westminster, and I very much look forward to welcoming more Rotarians to Parliament in the future”.
