South Leicestershire MP Alberto Costa has welcomed over £450 million in funding for schools as part of the Government’s Condition Improvement Fund for 2023-24 – eight schools in South Leicestershire have been allocated funding locally.
The Government has today announced that almost £456 million will be provided for 1,033 projects at 859 academies, sixth form colleges and voluntary aided schools. The new funding will allow schools to help refurbish and repair school buildings and will ensure that pupils can learn in safe, warm and energy efficient classrooms.
The schools in Alberto’s constituency that will receive this funding are Ravenhurst Primary School, St Peters Church of England School in Whetstone, Croft Church of England Primary School, Brockington College, Hallbrook Primary School, Blaby Stokes Church of England Primary School, Lutterworth College and Ullesthorpe Church of England Primary School.
Alberto said, “I am delighted that the Government is heavily investing in improving the condition of schools across the country, and that eight of our fantastic local schools in South Leicestershire will benefit. It is hugely important that all schools have access to high-quality learning and this funding will ensure that teachers, pupils, and staff can continue to learn and work in comfortable spaces.
Overall, the Government has committed £1.8 billion of capital funding for this financial year in order for schools to improve the conditions of their buildings, and I very much look forward to visiting some of the South Leicestershire schools that have received this funding, to see some of the exciting projects that are underway”.
