Alberto Costa, Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, welcomed the landlords of the New Inn pub in Enderby down to Parliament last week following their shortlisting for the PubAid Charity Fund Raising Pub of the Year award.
The prestigious award run by PubAid and the All Party Parliamentary Beer Group had shortlisted the South Leicestershire pub following recommendations from a panel of pub experts who recognised their efforts.
Alberto said, “It was a real pleasure to welcome Michael and Linda of the New Inn down to Parliament last week. The New Inn is known locally as a great establishment; providing a warm welcome and brilliant beers, they also contribute an enormous amount to the local community in Enderby and I am delighted that their excellent efforts have been recognised by Pub Aid and the APPG Beer Group”.
Co-founder of PubAid, Des O’Flanagan, added, “UK Pubs raise over £100 million for charity every year. PubAid has been searching to find the charity fund raising pub of the year. Not just the one that raises the most money, because we all know pubs come in all shapes and sizes. We have been looking for outlets that demonstrate a long-term commitment to raising money; the ones that are most imaginative in their fundraising and show the greatest community involvement in their activities”.
