I join all across our United Kingdom in mourning the sad death of our monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The Queen was a beacon of hope for many across the United Kingdom and The Commonwealth, for she was a magnificent constant during times of trouble and a tremendous symbol of fortitude during times of strife.
Ascending to the throne at just 25 years of age, The Queen has devoted her life to her country, her duties and us, her subjects.
I had the pleasure of joining The Queen for lunch during her visit to Leicester in spring 2017 - I saw first hand her kindness, grace and of course her famous sense of humour as she visited the city for Maundy Thursday.
It goes without saying that The Queen’s impact on our country and The Commonwealth is immeasurable, and her lasting legacy will leave an indelible mark on all of us, a testament to her decades on the throne for which she will be fondly remembered.
My thoughts and sympathy are with The King, Queen Consort and the Royal Family - they will stay in my prayers.
God Save The King.
