On Thursday 21st April 2016, MP for South Leicestershire, Alberto Costa, was accompanied by the Secretary of State for Education, Rt Hon Nicky Morgan MP to visit two schools within his constituency.
The first school visited was St. Mary’s CoE Primary School in Bitteswell, followed by Lutterworth College. During the visits, both Alberto Costa and Nicky Morgan met with staff and pupils, whilst also having a tour of both schools.
Alberto Costa MP said, “It was a pleasure to welcome the Secretary of State to two of the schools within my constituency. Both schools were very welcoming and provided tours as well as the opportunity to meet pupils and staff and discuss a range of matters.”
Hazel Maher, Headteacher at St. Mary’s Primary said, "It is always a delight to welcome Alberto Costa into school and for the children to have the opportunity to meet a member of parliament - a role that can sometimes seem so distant. We have a number of children who have shown an interest in parliamentary work and meeting people in their role gives them a good is insight into the role. We hope that Alberto Costa can visit again to explore the role of politics more deeply."
Ben Solley, Head of Lutterworth College said, ‘It was fantastic to welcome both Alberto Costa and Nicky Morgan to Lutterworth College. Alberto has been a regular visitor to the College since taking up his post and our students enjoyed the opportunity to talk with him and the Secretary of State for Education about a number of issues. It is not often that you get the opportunity to talk directly to the people who drive education policy so it was a very interesting experience for us to be able to put across our views and opinions.’
