On Friday 10th June, Alberto Costa MP visited the local South Leicestershire branch of Subway located in Lutterworth town centre.
Founded in Connecticut, USA in 1965, Subway now has almost 45,000 branches worldwide making it the largest single branch restaurant chain in the world.
Alberto met with franchisee, Umesh Patel, to discuss Subway’s position in the local community and toured the branch.
Alberto said, “I was delighted to visit the constituency’s local branch of Subway in Lutterworth earlier today to meet with Umesh and his hardworking staff and I am very thankful to them for their kind invitation to visit”.
Greg Madigan, Head of Subway UK & Ireland, said, “It was a pleasure to invite Alberto to our Subway store in Lutterworth earlier today to meet with our staff and to tour our store. We are very enthusiastic about engaging with the local community of South Leicestershire and so we were delighted that the Member of Parliament was able to join us. We spoke to Alberto about how the SUBWAY® brand leads the Quick Service Restaurant sector in its commitment to working with the Government to support healthier eating, and we look forward to the publication of the Government’s Childhood Obesity strategy later this summer”.
Alberto concluded, “I was very encouraged to hear that Subway have endorsed all eight nutrition-related responsibility deal pledges set by the Department of Health, they clearly provide a healthy alternative for many of my constituents and I’m pleased to see that they are encouraging healthy eating in South Leicestershire”.
