Alberto Costa MP met with representatives of Guide Dogs UK in Parliament, to discuss ongoing policy campaigns to support people with sight loss.
During the meeting, a number of policy areas were discussed including disability awareness training, associated penalties with law breaches and public transportation.
Dave Kent, guide dog owner and Engagement Officer for Guide Dogs, said: “It was a real pleasure to meet with Alberto today to talk about the most effective ways he can help promote issues directly affecting the daily lives of people with sight loss.
Our Access All Areas and Talking Buses campaigns are so very important to improving the independence of people with sight loss and we are very grateful for Alberto’s dedication, sensitivity and genuine support on this.”
Alberto said, "It was an incredibly informative meeting and I'm very grateful to Dave for taking the time to come to Parliament and explain some of the issues faced. It was clear from our conversation that guide dog users are currently facing some issues with accessibility and transport, which we need to work together to address.
I look forward to working closely with Guide Dogs UK to raise awarness of these issues to explore how we can best respond to the challenges faced."
