On Friday 9th September, Alberto Costa MP, visited Whetstone Baptist Church and its pre-school centre to meet with church and playgroup staff and to discuss their plans for a new church site in Whetstone.
The Baptist Church, which was originally built in 1909, has been offering a pre-school service for local residents for the past 40 years. However with growing numbers the church has decided to build a new place of worship and pre-school centre on Dog & Gun Lane, Whetstone as part of a new £4million development.
Alberto said, “I was very pleased to meet with senior church and playgroup staff this morning, and I was delighted to hear of their exciting news for their church and pre-school development. Both John and Chris informed me that with the growing congregation and the increasing number of parents utilising the pre-school service, a move was certainly needed”.
Alberto concluded, “The church’s pre-school service has been an asset to the community for the past 40 years and I’m very pleased that the church will continue to run this new service in their home. The plans for the new church look brilliant and I wish them the very best of luck in this development, and I look forward to visiting them again once the new church has been built”.
