On Friday 4th November, Alberto Costa MP attended the Cornerstone Youth Group Drop In evening held weekly at St. Andrew’s Church, Countesthorpe in his constituency of South Leicestershire.
The Cornerstone Youth Group ‘Drop In’, organised by the Rev’d David Hebblewhite, take places on a weekly basis in the church’s hall and encourages young people from Countesthorpe and the surrounding area to visit their drop in evenings.
Alberto said, “Incidences of anti-social behaviour (ASB) in Countesthorpe were well publicised earlier this year, however it’s imperative that young people, not only in Countesthorpe, but across the constituency have places to congregate and to socialise, and youth drop in at St Andrew’s Church provides an excellent opportunity for this”.
Countesthorpe District Councillor, David Findlay, added, “The youth drop in at the Cornerstone, provides a fantastic service for the youth of the village. It is important given the fact that we have a Public Safety Protection Order (PSPO) in place to deal with ASB that services like this get the support of our local MP, Alberto Costa, in order to continue to provide a suitable and enjoyable place for the youth of the village. I am pleased Alberto that took the time out of his busy schedule to come and see the youth drop in."
Alberto concluded, “I was delighted to visit the Cornerstone Youth Group on Friday evening and I was very pleased to see such an excellent turnout of young people attending. The youth group has excellent facilities such as pool and snooker tables as well as table tennis, and while I unfortunately lost a game of pool this evening I look forward to returning to the Cornerstone soon for a rematch”.
