On Friday 10th March, South Leicestershire MP, Alberto Costa, visited Blaby District Council’s newly opened ‘state of the art’ £6 million refuse depot based in Whetstone.
The new depot, which was previously based at a site in Littlethorpe, was relocated to Whetstone, following investment from the local authority, Blaby District Council. The depot, which serves over 41,000 homes and 95,000 residents across Blaby District, integrated aspects of Scandinavian design into its layout in order to maximise vehicle and person safety and opened late last year.
Alberto said, “It was a real pleasure to visit Blaby District’s new refuse depot and to see the result of their investment into providing an excellent service for the people of the district. I was very impressed with the state of the art facilities here that allows the Council to service all their vehicles in-house and ensure that the refuse teams are working as efficiently as possible”.
Alberto concluded, “I’m very proud that Blaby District Council has one of the highest customer satisfaction rates of any local authority in the county – an achievement I was very pleased to raise with the Prime Minister last year – and this new facility is indicative of that excellent standard that the Council continue to deliver to the people of South Leicestershire”.
