South Leicestershire MP, Alberto Costa, has described his delight at meeting with the Student Council at The Winstanley School in Braunstone during his visit on Friday morning in which he gave an insight into the workings of Westminster and his role as an MP.
During Alberto's visit he also met with leaders, teachers and members of the board of Governors who discussed the work of the school’s multi-academy trust which also includes Bosworth Academy.
Alberto said, “It’s always a pleasure to visit the schools in my constituency, and my morning spent at The Winstanley School was no exception. I’m very grateful to the Chair of the Governors for their kind invitation to visit; it was excellent to meet with representatives of the school’s academy trust, as well as Winstanley’s Co-Heads of School, and to hear about the school’s ambitious plans for the future”.
Alberto added, “I was especially delighted to meet with Winstanley’s Student Council and to hear of their great work in representing their fellow pupils. I enjoyed speaking to them about my role as their Member of Parliament and of course it was great to take part in a question and answer session and face a few challenging questions”.
The Winstanley School was privileged to welcome local MP Alberto Costa to the school to meet with leaders, teachers and students. The school is one of the most improved in Leicestershire this year, and supported by the LiFE multi-academy trust is set to continue that journey. Chris Parkinson (Executive Headteacher), said "improving our students' life-chances through attaining fantastic outcomes is core to our mission, but that means taking a leadership role within our community as well as within our school. It's vital that all stakeholders and key local figures are invited to be part of that journey".
