As part of this week’s National Apprenticeship Week, South Leicestershire MP, Alberto Costa, welcomed a group of apprentices from the Everards brewery in Enderby to a reception in the Houses of Parliament.
National Apprenticeship Week 2018, which launched on Monday (5th March), aims to bring together employers and apprentices from across England to showcase the success of apprenticeships whilst also encouraging more people to choose apprenticeships as a pathway to a career.
Alberto said, “I was delighted to welcome the apprentices from Everards brewery down to Parliament yesterday. Apprenticeships provide a hugely important starting point for people, both young and old, to gain entry into a vast array of exciting roles – allowing them to learn on the job, gain vital lifelong skills and qualifications and of course, become vital assets to their respective employers”.
Mr Stephen Gould, Managing Director of Everards, added, “We have attracted apprentices for a few years and currently have six at Everards in roles across Finance, IT and Digital Marketing. We were delighted to join in the celebrations for National Apprentice Week at the House of Commons and we were proud to see Luke Pettitt from our finance team receive a Certificate of Outstanding Achievement. We really value our apprentices and National Apprentice Week is a great initiative to highlight the benefits for both businesses and the apprentices themselves.”
Alberto concluded, “It was brilliant to hear from the apprentices at Everards and to hear the huge benefits of how of apprenticeships work for different people. National Apprenticeship Week is an excellent initiative and I would really encourage more businesses, not only in South Leicestershire but also the rest of the UK, to look into offering more apprenticeships in order to unlock the potential of so many incredible prospective employees”.
