Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, Alberto Costa MP, recently met with representatives from the Lutterworth and District Twinning Association to discuss the organisation’s plans for the town’s twinning efforts.
Alberto met with Ms Christine Horsfall and Mr Tony Jukes, the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Twinning Association, to discuss the Twinning Association’s efforts to further relations with Lutterworth’s French counterparts in Chambourcy. The Association aims to develop links between families, schools, businesses and sporting and social groups in Chambourcy and Lutterworth.
Alberto said, “It was a great pleasure to meet with Christine and Tony from the Lutterworth and District Twinning Association and to hear about the excellent work their organisation has been doing to further the town’s close relationship with our French cousins. Twinning efforts such as these provide a brilliant opportunity for people of ages to travel across to experience the French way of life, or indeed to welcome the people of Chambourcy to Lutterworth and I would really encourage the people of Lutterworth to support the Twinning Association and their very commendable work in furthering our international ties”.
Mrs Christine Horsfall, Chair of the Lutterworth and District Twinning Association, added, “I am proud that there is a very good link between Lutterworth High School and College Andre Derain in Chambourcy and with a visit to the French school planned for this summer, these are certainly exciting times for the Twinning Association. We always receive a very warm welcome from the people of Chambourcy, located just west of Paris, and of course we always welcome new members and are always pleased to help facilitate contact between businesses, sports teams and other groups”.
Alberto concluded, “The Prime Minister recently stressed the importance of twinning and building further close ties with our European neighbours, hence why I was delighted to hear of the very good work the Twinning Association have been doing on behalf of the people of Lutterworth. I understand that a group from Chambourcy may be visiting Lutterworth later this year, and I very much look forward to welcoming them to our wonderful market town”.
