As a Conservative MP I do of course always support the creation of further employment and investment in both the local and national economy, however it is important that this development comes in a sustainable manner; not at the expense of our local environment and local infrastructure.
South Leicestershire is situated in the middle of what is referred to as the 'Golden Triangle', between the motorways of the M1, M6 and M69 meaning that most of the UK can be reached in under four hours. This of huge benefit to large logistics organisations, however it is imperative that their commercial needs are always balanced with the needs of local residents.
I will continue to work alongside local residents to ensure that their voices are heard in relation to the Magna Park logistics park and the recently announced plans for the Hinckley National Rail Freight Interchange (HNRFI), to ensure that no decisions are made without a transparent, public process.
