South Leicestershire MP, Alberto Costa, recently visited Blaby Stokes Primary School to meet the school's leadership and members of their student council.
Alberto met with the the CEO of the Learn Academies Trust, Ms Stef Edwards, the Chair of Trustees, Ms Gill Weston, and the school's Executive Headteacher, Ms Kerry Rodger, before being given a tour by the Acting Head of School, Matt Hough, and members of the school's student council.
Alberto said, 'I take tremendous pride in visiting the excellent schools in my constituency, and my visit to Blaby Stokes was certainly no exception. It was excellent to meet such enthusiastic pupils who clearly enjoy their time at school, and similarly I enjoyed meeting the school's leadership. Under the Learn Academies Trust the school appears to be thriving and long may that continue".
Alberto added, "I was very pleased to hear from the school council about a brilliant piece of work all classes are doing relating to a particular oil painting, 'Men of the Docks' by American artist George Bellows. The different classes at Blaby Stokes have been learning about the differences between the modern era and the time of the painting, a really unique, but positive, way of encouraging pupils to think about history in a different way, very impressive indeed".
