Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, Alberto Costa, is calling on the small shopkeepers in his constituency to enter the Best Small Shops Competition, celebrating the creativity of small shops and the central role they play in their local community.
Shopkeepers can nominate their businesses until Monday 9th September via www.bestsmallshops.co.uk. A shortlist of 25 of the most impressive applications will be shortlisted by a panel made up of established representatives from the independent retail industry.
The judges will be looking for evidence of a small shops’ entrepreneurial spirit, ways that they have been innovative in their business and what they have done to have a lasting positive impact on their community.

Small shops are the backbone of our local and national economy and they play a tremendously important role on our High Streets, offering products and service that can’t be found elsewhere. This is a wonderful opportunity for some of the small shops in the constituency to be recognised for their excellent work, and I am very proud to support this competition which shines a light on the independent shops that can be found in every village and town across South Leicestershire”.
