South Leicestershire MP Alberto Costa has thanked volunteers in Lutterworth for their efforts in delivering over 300 food parcels to vulnerable residents living in the town and surrounding villages.
Mr Costa recently visited the Wycliffe Rooms in Lutterworth to see the operation in action and to thank volunteers for their work. The project has been organised by the Mark Master Freemasons of Leicestershire and Rutland, with help from local businesses in the town and supermarket Morrisons.
Alberto said, “It was a real pleasure to see the tremendous efforts of the volunteers at the Wycliffe Rooms in Lutterworth. I know so many volunteer organisations are doing a wonderful job across South Leicestershire and the UK in supporting their local communities, and it was brilliant to see the food parcel operation in full action.
Alberto added, “The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has been such a terrible time for so many, however it has really served to bring out the community spirit in our villages, towns and cities. The Mark Master Masons and a host of local businesses have been doing some brilliant, selfless work in looking after the most vulnerable and alone in South Leicestershire and I would like to sincerely thank them for all they have done”.
