South Leicestershire MP Alberto Costa has echoed the concerns of local people over plans to construct a stable block and an agricultural shed at a site that was previously subject to a High Court injunction and enforcement action in Claybrooke Parva.
The site, located at Wells Close, Woodway Lane in the village, has raised considerable local concern following a previously refused application for a caravan/mobile site and a recent High Court injunction obtained by Harborough District Council preventing the owner from undertaking any unauthorised ground works including the siting of mobile homes.
Following these concerns, Alberto has written to the Leader and Chief Executive of Harborough District Council on this matter.
Alberto said, “Since this application has been submitted, I have received a very large amount of correspondence from constituents outlining their serious concerns over these proposals. Given the quite complicated history associated with this site, residents are understandably deeply worried about any further works taking place, and I so I have today written to Harborough District Council to reiterate the concerns of my constituents in order to ensure that the local authority are fully aware of the views of local people prior to any decision being made”.
Alberto added, “Of course, as a Member of Parliament it is not my place to pass judgement on any specific planning application, however, given the very high level of correspondence received, I felt it necessary to inform Harborough District Council of the level of concern and anxiety many of my constituents are feeling toward this application. I have no doubt that the Council’s excellent Planning Team and Planning Committee will give the application the fair hearing and scrutiny it deserves, while ensuring the views of my constituents are heard accordingly”.
