South Leicestershire MP, Alberto Costa, has issued a survey to almost 8,000 households across his constituency in order to ask for their views on a range of issues faced by those living in rural communities.
The MP has sent the survey to all villages in South Leicestershire with less than 1,000 households to gain a better understanding of the issues experienced by constituents living in small, rural villages – the survey asks for resident’s views on crime, local roads, broadband and public transportation.
The survey is being sent to residents this week in the following villages in Blaby District: Aston Flamville, Elmesthorpe, Croft, Huncote, Foston, Kilby, Littlethorpe, Leicester Forest West, Sharnford, Thurlaston, Wigston Parva, Potters Marston – and the following villages in Harborough District: Arnesby, Ashby Magna, Ashby Parva, Bitteswell, Bruntingthorpe, Catthorpe, The Claybrookes, Cotesbach, Dunton Bassett, Frolesworth, Gilmorton, Leire, Misterton, Peatling Magna, Peatling Parva, Shawell, Shearsby, Swinford, Ullesthorpe, Willoughby Waterleys, Walcote, Walton & Kimcote.
Alberto said, “I am delighted to be launching this survey to so many of my constituents across South Leicestershire living in small, rural communities. Since I was first elected back in 2015, my office has noted some recurring issues reported by those living in smaller villages in the constituency, and this survey is designed to seek resident’s views on a range of important matters and better highlight these areas of concern”.
Alberto added, “Once I have received the completed surveys by the deadline of Monday 9th May, my office will then begin analysing the results which will then provide us with a clearer picture of the assistance we’re able to provide and which stakeholders to include in that process. For instance, if one village highlights issues with internet connectivity then my office will work with broadband providers to resolve this, and similarly if there is a particular area of crime that has yet to be addressed, then my office can raise this with Leicestershire Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner accordingly. It’s so important that those living in small, rural communities have their voices heard so I would really encourage constituents to please complete this short survey and return it to my office as soon as they can”.

Constituents have until 9th May to return their completed survey to Alberto's office, which can be done by folding the survey and posting it back using the freepost service.
