South Leicestershire MP, Alberto Costa, has joined local Councillors in welcoming the opening of a new trial ‘Drop and Collect’ Post Office branch at Mack’s Garage on Leicester Road in Enderby.
The new branch, which opened in the village earlier this week, is part of a new format by the Post Office offering services from a handheld device, providing access for customers to make bill payments and carry out prepaid parcel collections and returns.
The MP has welcomed the new service for residents in Enderby, which will be open 7 days a week including until 8pm on weekdays, and is encouraging his constituents to use the new branch as the Post Office will be monitoring usage as part of the trial.
Alberto said, “This new Post Office branch in Enderby is a fantastic addition to the local area and will no doubt help constituents in accessing the important services the Post Office provides. As this new style branch is part of the Post Office’s trial, I would really encourage constituents to use the new branch to ensure its success and longevity in the local community”.
Leicestershire County Councillor for Enderby & Lubbesthorpe, Louise Richardson, added, “It’s very positive that the Post Office are running this trial to ensure that things like paying bills and collections and returns are able to be done locally. This should assist the residents in St. Johns in Enderby, but also assist those that commute to work along the B114. It is also great to see Mack’s Garage diversifying and offering additional services to their customers”.
Blaby District Councillor for Enderby and St John’s, Cheryl Cashmore also said, “I am very pleased with the new Post Office branch opening in Enderby, with extended opening hours, including on Sundays, this will make it much more accessible to local people. I do hope residents will use this new branch in order to encourage the Post Office to keep this open in Enderby but to also offer similar branches in other areas too”.
