Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, Alberto Costa, recently visited Sapcote Garden Centre to meet with staff and to discuss support for businesses ahead of this Saturday's (3rd December) Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to 'shop local' and support small businesses in their communities.
The day itself takes place on the first Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses.
On Small Business Saturday, customers across the U.K. go out and support all types of small businesses, online, in offices and in stores. Many small businesses take part in the day by hosting events and offering discounts.
Alberto said, "I was delighted to recently visit Sapcote Garden Centre, one of many of South Leicestershire's fantastic small, independent businesses, ahead of this week's Small Business Saturday. I am really pleased that South Leicestershire is home to so many fantastic small businesses; they are the backbone of our local and national economy, and with the present cost of living, they are in need of our support more than ever.
"It was a pleasure to meet with Andrew and his staff at Sapcote Garden Centre and to hear about their preparations ahead of the busy festive period. We also discussed the rising cost of living and the impact this is having for small businesses, and I am pleased that the Government is doing it all can to help businesses with the Energy Bill Relief Scheme alongside equivalent support to households across the UK".
