South Leicestershire MP Alberto Costa has welcomed the installation of a new free-to-use cash machine in Blaby Town Centre.
Alberto has been working closely with representatives from LINK, the UK’s largest cash machine network, and Cardtronics, the new cash machine’s operator, to secure a new ATM in Blaby following the recent raft of local bank closures which left the Town Centre without a free cash machine.
The new cash machine will be located at Twins News in the Precinct at John’s Court, Blaby and will be operational from tomorrow afternoon (28th February).
Alberto said, “I am delighted that a brand new free-to-use cash machine will soon be operational and available to my constituents in Blaby and the surrounding area. Following the recent raft of local bank closures, Blaby has sadly been without a free-to-use ATM for quite some months, however my office has been working very closely with both LINK and Cardtronics to address this, and I am very pleased to see that the new cash machine will soon be in place with thanks to the owners of Twins News too”.
Alberto added, “Many of the fantastic independent shops in Blaby are reliant on the use of cash and cash of course remains a key part of our local and national economy. I have been deeply concerned in recent years by the number of bank closures we have seen, especially in rural areas where residents may not be able to travel to larger towns or cities. Therefore, it is crucial that a good number of cash machines remain operational and free-to-use, and I am sure that the news of a new ATM will be very much welcomed by the good people of Blaby.”
