South Leicestershire MP Alberto Costa has crowned nine-year old Agatha Leuzy-Hall of Swinford CofE Primary School the winner of his Coronation Card Competition in which he asked primary school age children from across South Leicestershire to design a card to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.
Alberto launched the competition in March and wrote to all primary schools in his South Leicestershire constituency asking them to design the front cover of a card that will be sent to the new King and Queen Consort on behalf of the people of South Leicestershire.
Agatha Leuzy-Hall, age 9, of Swinford CofE Primary School was awarded first prize, with Kira Man, age 10, of The Pastures Primary School in Narborough coming in second place and Joseph Camilus, age 8, of Sherrier Primary School in Lutterworth coming in third place.
The MP will soon be visiting Swinford CofE Primary School to award Agatha a special House of Commons prize, and the two runners-up will also receive prizes too. Mr Costa’s office received over 30 entries from local primary school children, all of whom will be receiving a special certificate for taking part.
Alberto said, “Many congratulations to young Agatha of Swinford CofE Primary School for her fantastic winning design in my Coronation Card Competition. I was delighted to receive so many entries from young constituents across South Leicestershire, and I was really pleased to see so many young people engaging with the upcoming coronation and putting a lot of effort into their artistic work.
I would like to sincerely thank all those schools and pupils from across South Leicestershire who took the time to enter my competition. The King’s Coronation is such a special time for our country, and this competition was a brilliant means of getting more young people involved. Agatha’s winning design will form the front of my card with the two runner up designs from Kira and Joseph on the reverse, and I very much look forward to sending our card to the new King and Queen Consort to congratulate this fantastic occasion in our nation’s history on behalf of the people of South Leicestershire”.
