South Leicestershire MP, Alberto Costa, recently visited the Sapcote Memory Hub following their recent award of £10,000 in grant funding from the National Lottery Community Fund for a new outreach project to assist people with dementia.
The Sapcote Memory Hub run a number of day clubs for people living with dementia and provide a range of activities to help improve the lives of people with dementia and their families.
During his visit, Alberto met with the Hub’s leadership team and attended a Cognitive Stimulation Therapy session alongside a number of local people diagnosed with dementia.
The MP also heard more about how the Hub’s recent funding award which will be used to launch a new outreach service to support up to 50 families and individuals caring for those with dementia and their loved ones. The project will also offer face-to-face guidance to family members and friends and will aim to support anyone experiencing memory problems and help to reduce isolation.
Alberto said, “I was delighted to recently visit the excellent Sapcote Memory Hub to learn more about their work in supporting those with dementia, and to hear more about their exciting plans following the successful award of grant funding from the National Lottery Community Fund. Sam, Kerry, Katie and all the team at the Sapcote Memory Hub do outstanding work in providing a huge range of support services for those with dementia and their families and it was a pleasure to join of their sessions to see their wonderful work first-hand”.
